Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block’s Antep Independent Candidate Akýn Birdal met with the seven PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) member prisoners in Antep H Type Closed Prison serving a life sentence.
Giving information about the meeting, Birdal remarked that he also had talks with the prison’s administration concerning the situation of the prisoners and convicts who have gone on an indefinite hunger strike.
Birdal noted that 11 prisoners and 5 convicts have gone on an indefinite hunger strike to protest against the military and political operations and against the growing pressure on Democratic Solution Tents.
Pointing out that the number of prisoners and convicts has exceeded over 129 thousand for the first time in the history of Turkish Republic, Birdal notified that he talked with the prison’s administration over the unmet demands of prisoners, hospital transfer in particular.
