Members of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF) in prison have gone on an indefinite and rotating hunger strike against the isolation they are subjected to in High Security Prisons (YGC).
The ESP and SGDF members who have been held in jail since 24 January have been transferred from Silivri Prison to different prisons. They were subjected to ill-treatment during transfer, and they have been placed in High Security Prisons.
According to the information provided by the prisoners’ lawyers, Adnan Özcan and Ahmet Bilal Bay, who are being held in Sincan No. 2 High Security Prison, have gone on an indefinite and rotating hunger strike as of Monday.
Mazlum Ortaç and Onur Yoldaş Mete are being held in Çorlu Karatepe High Security Prison. The lawyers said that 12 of their 34 clients who were sent to different prisons are being held in High Security Prisons, and are held in single-person, non-ventilated cells.
