In Patnos L-Type Closed Prison, in Agirî, approximately 50 prison guards stormed the ward and tortured female prisoners. One of the prisoners, Helin Özdemir, shared details of the assault during her weekly phone call with her family. 

Helin Özdemir said that on Wednesday 18 December, around 50 guards, including male ones, raided their ward. She said: "The guards carried out a raid on our ward. After physically assaulting us. They handcuffed us with their arms behind our backs and placed us in solitary confinement cells. In addition to physical violence, we were subjected to verbal abuse. We demand that an independent organization conduct an investigation into the prison to address the violations we have endured. We call on the public to take action."
