Female prisoners in Evin jail go on hunger strike against death penalty

The female prisoners in Evin jail announced that they are going on a hunger strike against the death sentence given to Warisha Moradi.

Reactions continue to come from many circles to the death sentence given to Warisha Moradi, a member of the Free Women's Community of East Kurdistan (KJAR) who is being held in Evin Prison in Iran. On 10 November, the female prisoners in Evin jail announced that they were going on a hunger strike. The protest started on Tuesday.

Golrokh Iraei, a prisoner in Evin Prison, announced in a message she published on her X and Instagram accounts that the prisoners have started a hunger strike to condemn the death sentences given to Warisha Moradi and Pakhshan Azizi.

In her message, Golrokh Iraei said that the presiding judge did not grant Warisha Moradi the right to defense and added that the death sentence was given based on the judge's opinion without any concrete evidence.

Golrokh Iraei continued her message by stating that the prisoners in the women's ward of Evin jail started a hunger strike on Tuesday.
