Federation of Yazidi Societies in Europe (FKÊ) has issued a statement urging the KDP asayish (public security) forces to end the repression of the Sinjar Yazidis sheltered in camps in Zaxo and Duhok cities of South Kurdistan.
FKÊ condemned the arrest of dozens from the Yazidi community who staged a march to highlight their demands, and called for their urgent release.
Remarking that the KDP's intolerance to the Yazidis demanding their rights, freedom and status continued, FKÊ recalled that asayesh forces affiliated to the KDP arrested dozens of Yazidis, wounded that many, while also blockading the camps where Yazidi refugees are being sheltered during a demo in Zaxo and Duhok camps.
FKÊ stressed that the cruel tendencies of the KDP and its security forces was unacceptable while the Sinjar massacre, for which the KDP was obviously responsible, hasn't left one year even behind.
"KDP must know very well that Yazidi people are not abandoned, helpless or unorganised", FKÊ said, urging the government of South Kurdistan to immediately release the arrested Yazidis, to abandon its irresponsible tendencies and to reach the line of national unity.
