Young prisoners transferred from Pozantý prison to Sincan prison in Ankara after exposing sexual and physical abuse have told members from the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Law Commission that they were harassed and beaten in Sincan prison.
Þ.U. and M.K., both jailed under the Anti-Terror Law (TMK), told the BDP members that they were beaten and locked up in their cells upon arrival. A child's finger was broken after a clash with the wards. The child was not given medical assistance.
The children also said that the prison’s prosecutor told them to withdraw their criminal complaints about the sexual abuse in the Pozantý and threatened them with violence.
“The wards told us not to say anything about what is happening in the prison and say that this prison will be worse than Pozantý if we do not obey,” said the children.
The BDP members also learned that children were given only one blanket and could not sleep due to the cold at night. A report will be prepared by the BDP commission in the next days.
