HDP Deputies pay visit to Şenyaşar family

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MPs paid a visit to Şenyaşar family holding a justice vigil in Urfa.

Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons in the massacre carried out by AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız’s bodyguards and relatives in Suruç district of Urfa on 14 June 2018, and her son, who was injured in the same attack, continue to receive solidarity visits to their justice vigil in front of Urfa courthouse. Today, a delegation including HDP Deputies Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, Ömer Öcalan, Ayşe Sürücü, Pero Dündar, Nimetullah Erdoğmuş ve Nusrettin Maçin, who had come to Urfa to attend the demonstration to be held under the motto “This is time for Justice” in Urfa central district tomorrow, paid a visit to Şenyaşar family.

The family informed the visitors about their Justice Vigil which is ongoing despite the persecution. Emine Şenyşar said: “They killed my sons. We are not allowed to enter the courthouse; they take us into custody. Who killed my brave sons? What kind of state is this? Those who killed my sons are free, but my son has been imprisoned for years. I want to see my son once before my death. My son is rotting in prison as well as I do here.”

‘The prosecutor avoids us’

Ferit Şenyaşar said: “There is only one development; multiple lawsuits were issued against my mother. They sued my mother for insult. Who killed three people? Nearly 300 AKP deputies remained silent. Despite the cold weather, we continue to stand here. They rejected our demands to put up a tent. The prosecutor comes to this courthouse every day but he has never once asked us what we demand. The prosecutor avoids us. They replaced the prosecutors nine times.”

Ferit Şenyaşar thanked the HDP delegation, saying, “You are our hope of life.”

'These tears will end the injustice’

Condemning the silence of prosecutors, ministries, and political authorities against the justice vigil, HDP Deputy Gergerlioğlu said: “This family has been holding a vigil here for 291 days. They have received no response so far.”

He added: “Emine Şenyaşar has been crying for years. These tears will end the injustice. No government can stand against this. A mother and her son are resisting together with many oppressed people. We will stand with the Şenyaşar family till the end.”

HDP Urfa MP Nimetullah Erdoğmuş said: “This is the city of prophets, and justice is a sacred duty of prophets. We stand by the family demanding justice in the city of prophets. The family demands a fair decision from the judiciary authorities.”
