HDP Deputy Ayşe Acar Başaran pays a visit to Justice Vigil and calls for a joint struggle

Ayşe Acar Başaran, co-spokeswoman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Women’s Council, paid a visit to the Vigil for Justice launched by relatives of prisoners in Amed 39 days ago.

Families and relatives of prisoners have been holding a Vigil for Justice in the premises of Amed Bar Association for 39 days demanding the release of ill prisoners and of those who have been denied release on probation. Today, Co-spokeswoman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Women’s Council Ayşe Acar Başaran, and members of Women Council paid a visit to the vigil.

Stating that the Vigil for Justice in Amed is a part of the struggle carried out by Emine Şenyaşar, Mısra Öz, Peace Mothers and Saturday Mothers as well as the many struggles for justice, Başaran said: “There is no justice in Turkey. There are palaces but, no justice! Saturday Mothers and Peace Mothers have been seeking justice for years. Today, mothers here, too, are seeking justice. I am sure that our struggle for justice will get results. To this end, society should be conscientious. Otherwise, the government will never take a step. Because it promotes militarism, nationalism, anger and tyranny. Our main duty is to build a common struggle to stop this atrocity”.

Başaran continued: “In the last month, 7 prisoners lost their lives in prisons which are directly under the supervision of the Ministry of Justice. Two of these deaths were recorded as suspicious. But, we treat all these deaths as suspicious. We treated them as massacres.”

Fevziye Kolaçan, from the relatives of prisoners, emphasized their determination to continue their vigil until they get a result, and Inci Güler called on all families of prisoners to support and join their vigil.
