Human Rights Association in Turkey (IHD) running a campaign for the victims of the forced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Turkey held its 74th sit down strike in Diyarbakir which was devoted to Vedat Aydin.
“Chair of the Diyarbakir region of the pro-Kurdish HEP (People’s Labour Party) Vedat Aydin’s dead body was found a couple of days later after he was kidnapped by Gendarmerie Intelligence Service (JITEM) in 1991. Since then nobody was charged in relation to this killing. Moreover, the state officials have always denied existence of JITEM.” said IHD board member Raci Bilici.
Bilici further stated that Chief of the Turkish Staff Ýlker Baþbuð by intervening the judiciary protects head of JITEM Cemal Temizöz who was charged with 9 times long-life imprisonments because of 52 killings cases.
Another IHD member Necibe Güneþ Perinçek also stated that they have been running a campaign for more than a year, however no responsible have been brought to justice and that shows that nothing much has changed in Turkey since 1990’s.
IHD also denounced the brutality by the Turkish soldiers on guerrilla bodies.
