Hunger strike in Stuttgart in solidarity with Nuriye and Semih

In German city Stuttgart a four-day hunger strike has been launche for educators Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça who are now jailed due to the hunger strike they launched in Ankara demanding their jobs back after dismissal with a statutory decree.

As protests are growing in solidarity with Nuriye and Semih who have already entered the critical stage in their ongoing hunger strike, thirteen activists have started a four-day hunger strike in Stuttgart city of Germany in solidarity with the educators.

In the joint statement made on behalf of the participants, it was said that the demands of Nuriye and Semih, whose hunger strike is on day 136, shall be accepted and all the unlawfully dismissed employees shall be reinstated. The joint statement called on everyone to enhance the struggle against this unlawful practice that the government bases on the coup attempt of last year.

The organisations that support the hunger strike activity are: ATIF, Yeni Kadin, AGIF, ADHK, ADKH, HDK-Stuttgart, DKTM-Stuttgart, Kurdish Women's Movement, Women's Movement Stuttgart, Frauen Courage, SKB, YJK-A, Alinteri and Arbeitskreis Solidarität.

The hunger strike activity will continue in Stuttgart's Tohum Culture House due to the weather.
