As Turkish state forces continue to commit war crimes in the Kurdish towns under their siege for over a month now, genocidal attacks on civilian areas do also result in severe violations of basic rights.
16-year-old Hüseyin Paksoy is one of the victims of the unlawful and arbitrary executions of Turkish 'security' forces in the Kurdish town of Cizre in Şırnak province.
Paksoy got wounded in Nur neighborhood on 14 January, and he remained in the area for 4 days as no ambulance was allowed into the neighborhood on grounds of security.
As Paksoy remained in the neighborhood since, HDP MP Faysal Sarıyıldız on the ground made endless efforts to enable his referral to hospital. Yet, no Turkish authority enabled the youth's access to treatment.
While the Turkish Ministry of Health didn't allow ambulances to enter the neighborhood, an ambulance belonging to Cizre Municipality was allowed into the neighborhood only three days later under the ongoing gunfire by state forces.
The health team, however, couldn't find Paksoy where he had been shot, and wasn't allowed to search him in the surrounding area. Following an urgent warning by police who called the ambulance driver and ordered him to 'leave the area immediately', health team was forced to return without getting Paksoy.
Cizre Municipality's ambulance was allowed to reach him only yesterday noon upon an interim injunction by the European Court of Human Rights which acted after an application by lawyer Nuray Özdoğan. The lawyer demanded the Court to enable Paksoy's urgent access to treatment as his right to life and health was severely violated.
Yet, the ambulance found a dead body in the neighborhood, which was therewith retrieved from the scene and taken to Cizre State Hospital. The body was later confirmed to be belonging to Hüseyin Paksoy.
