IHD: Aysel Koç had her rights constantly violated

IHD Prison Commission announced that MKP-HKO fighter Aysel Koç, who is claimed to have ended her life in prison, was subjected to systematic violation of rights.

Human Rights Association (IHD) Ankara Branch Prison Commission held a press conference regarding the death of MKP-HKO fighter Aysel Koç, who allegedly ended her life in prison. At the meeting held at the IHD Ankara Branch, a statement compiled with the information received from Koç's family, prison friends and prison administration was read.

Lawyer Ömer Faruk Yazmacı said that Koç's family told them that Aysel was alone for some time, had epilepsy, had been exposed to many rights violations in prison. She is reported to have told her father on the phone, 'They will not send me out alive from here."

Lawyer Yazmacı said that Koç was suffering from epyleptic attacks: "His friends in prison said that she had problems with her tongue once, and they had a difficult time as no officer had come. A prisoner actually saved her life by putting her hand in the mouth of Aysel. Aysel was left alone in the ward of the prisoners who received aggravated life imprisonment for 6 months. She had three epilepsy crises while she was alone, and once her glasses were broken during the epilepsy crisis. She had been trembling and injured herself with the broken glasses. She had been in a single ward for 7 days after February 25, before she died."

Yazmacı noted that Koç' rights were systematically violated, and said: "An investigation should be opened on the death of Aysel Koç."
