A group of Kurdish intellectuals and authors have announced in a joint declaration that they will also go on a hunger strike should no solution be found to end the ongoing hunger strike.
In their declaration the 52 Kurdish intellectuals pointed out that the hunger strike aimed a revolutionary and democratic development in Turkey and Kurdistan and noted the followings; “We regret to face the truth that the prison resistance which started on 12 September has entered its 43rd day without any solution being found. The prisoners on fast are risking their lives for all of us and all of you, they are not protesting against their imprisonment conditions or for their individual conditions.”
The statement continued saying that "we also regret to face the truth that there is no difference between “inside and outside the prison” in Turkey which has already been turned into a great prison as all authors, intellectuals, parliamentarians and mayors share the same circumstances both inside and outside the prison. This is why we should also resist, knowing that remaining silent means betrayal of yourself, death and killing the future. It is the rightest time to protect our friends and comrades.”
