While the Iranian regime still doesn’t release the bodies of 5 executed political prisoners to their families; the pressure in East Kurdistan has heightened. There are worrying signals about another execution, that of Hebibulla Letifi.
While shopkeepers are divested of electricity, imams made threats in mosque. Besides, detention glut is continuing.
The regime is getting requests by the families of executed prisoners as their bodies have not yet been released to them, after 16 days. Nevertheless, authorities haven’t made any statement regarding the case. The bodies are reported to be kept in the morgue of a hospital near to Tehran. It is also feared that the bodies may be buried secretly if their condition deteriorate.
Authorities had put calm to be restored quickly in East Kurdistan as a condition for the return of the bodies of Þirin Elemhulu, Ferheta Wekili, Ferzad Kemanger, Eli Heyderyan and Mehdi Eslamiyan but later it informed the families that the bodies won’t be given anyway.
HEBIBULLA LETIFI
It is claimed that Letifi, who is one of 18 Kurdish political prisoners under threat, has already been sentenced to death and the sentence should be carried out on 7 June. It has been stated that the execution decision for Lefiti was given last week in Sine by the Emergency Committee, formed by Interior and Intelligence Ministry executives.
Lawyers for Lefiti, Salif Nikbext said that they are taking the news about the sentence seriously.
