Lawyer says Timtik is "resisting because she wants to live"

Lawyer Didem Baydar Ünsal met with her colleague on death fast Ebru Timtik and said she is resisting to live.

Time is running out for lawyers Ebru Timtik and Aytaç Ünsal, who have reached the critical stage of their death fast in the hospitals where they have been forcibly taken to.

The lawyers are demanding a fair trial. Visiting her colleague Timtik, who has been held in the prison ward of Bakırköy Sadi Konuk Hospital for 27 days against her will, lawyer Didem Baydar Ünsal pointed out that even minutes are important for Timtik, who has entered the 237th day of death fast.

Didem Baydar Ünsal, also the wife of lawyer Aytaç Ünsal, who is also on death fast and is forcibly held in Halkalı Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Hospital, told ANF about Timtik's latest situation.

She said that Ebru Timtik is experiencing difficulties in speaking. Ünsal added that sometimes she answers the questions she is asked with her head and eyes. She also said that Timtik cannot get up from the bed as her muscles began to fail. In addition, her throat is constantly dry and her wounds increased, so she has difficulty in taking the vitamin B and can only consume fluid little by little.

Ünsal pointed out that Timtik is kept under conditions no different from a prison cell and in fact almost much heavier than the prison, and said that she resisted a possible forced intervention in order not to lose consciousness. Timtik has lost her sleep and is very uncomfortable with the inhumane practices she is subjected to in the hospital. Stating that Timtik is waiting for the Supreme Court to take a decision as soon as possible, Ünsal said: “Are they waiting for our death to decide? Are they trying to kill us?”

Emphasizing that Ebru Timtik is resisting with all her strength because she wants to live, Didem Baydar Ünsal pointed out that there is no time to lose anymore and added: "The Supreme Court must take a decision."
