LETTER FROM FEMALE PRISONERS IN SINCAN

On the other hand, the indefinite-irreversible hunger strike started by seven prisoners in Ankara Sincan Women's Closed Prison on February 23 continues with 25 prisoners at the moment. Prisoners joining the hunger strike sent a letter through their families on April 10, which says the following:

"We as political prisoners on indefinite-irreversible hunger strike since February 23 started this action with two goals; ending of the aggravated isolation on Kurdish People's Leader Mr. Abdullah Öcalan and the siege and blockade on the cities of North Kurdistan. We are aware of the fact that all these practices in prisons are directly related with the isolation on İmralı. Neither rights violations nor the atrocity and persecution in prisons will stop unless the isolation ends because of the fact that the isolation imposed on the Leader stands at the center of the genocidal and invasive operations developed against the Kurdish people. These practices are a coup staged against the Kurdish people and it first began with the isolation of our Leader's ideas."
