Mutlak Tozun, a 30-year prisoner in Manisa Akhisar T Type Closed Prison, was hospitalised due to his illness with a conditional release order. He was transferred to Van on 2 March upon his family's request to continue his treatment there. Tozun was transferred to Van Education and Research Hospital and his health condition worsened last night. While he lost his life this morning, people flocked to the hospital, including his family, relatives and friends.

DEM Party MP Pervin Buldan, the party's Van Metropolitan Municipality co-mayor candidates Neslihan Şedal and Abdullah Zeydan, executives of MEBYA-DER (Association for Solidarity with Families Who Lost Relatives in the Cradle of Civilisations), and the Association for Solidarity with the Families of Prisoners and Convicts (TUHAY-DER) also came to the hospital and expressed their condolences to the family.

Tozun's body was sent to his hometown, Patnos district of Ağrı. The funeral vehicle was accompanied by a huge convoy.
