Nameyên Piþtgirî, letters to prisoners campaign

#TwitterKurds is hosting a campaign in solidarity with political prisoners in Turkey. The campaign has been named Nameyên Piþtgirî - Solidarity Letters.

The text to launch the campaign underlined that "according to local human rights organisations, there are over 10,000 political prisoners in Turkey, with dozens more being arrested on a daily basis. The detainees include parliamentarians, mayors, journalists, lawyers, students, and other minority and human-rights activists".

Briefly, there are 5 elected Kurdish MPs, 34 mayors, 104 journalists, over 700 students, over 2,000 children and thousands of human rights defenders detained in Turkey’s overcrowded prisons, many of them without trial.

Nameyên Piþtgirî (Solidarity Letters) is an international initiative by Kurds and human rights activists whose aim is to build solidarity, raise morale, and call global awareness to the plight of political prisoners in Turkey.

In order to join the campaign people are asked to send an email containing your name and location to [email protected].
