Paralyzed prisoner to stay in Mardin jail

DIHA news agency writes the story of Murþit Aslan, a totally paralyzed prisoner in Mardin E Type Prison. He asked some sensitivity since he is unable to take care of himself without assistance.

Aslan was paralyzed as a result of a clash between Turkish Military Forces (TSK) and Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) in 1991. Then he was sentenced to life. President Ahmet Necdet Sezer signed the paper to release Aslan on January 20, 2000, since his body is 90 percent paralyzed.

But police arrested him again on September 7, 2005 for being a member of an illegal organization. Two months later he was re-released according to the related law’s requirement.

Diyarbakýr 4th Heavy Penal Court sentenced him again and his journey to the prison started once again on September 7, 2010.
