Peace Mothers calls on people to protest against PM visit

In a press statement on Prime Minister Erdoðan’s visit to Diyarbakýr on 2 June, Peace Mothers Initiative called on Diyarbakýr people to protest against the Prime Minister by not going out, not going to work and not sending children to school that day.

“What will Erdoðan do and tell the people here?” asked mothers and underlined that Erdoðan isn’t wanted in Diyarbakýr for being a killer and strongly condemned by the Peace Mothers.

Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaþ, in his speech at the public meeting by BDP Ümraniye organization, also called on the Kurdish people in Diyarbakýr people to protest against the AKP rally on 2 June.

The Prime Minister who is responsible for Roboski massacre should be left alone on Amed streets, underlined Demirtaþ and said that; “The government heavy attacks on the Kurdish people cannot force them into submission by means of “KCK” and military operations. In the face of intentions to make Kurds slave and second class citizens, the Kurdish people doesn’t recognize any will other than their own.”

Remarking that the political power will either recognize the Kurdish people or choose a total war against them, Demirtaþ continued as follows;

“The Kurdish people will not take negotiation into consideration unless the AKP government accepts their demands. The Prime Minister shouldn’t think and believe the Kurdish people could be intimidated by means of slaughters and policies of isolation. Erdoðan sees our demands for negotiation and peace as if our begging of him and he doesn’t see that we demand negotiation to prevent further deaths and tears.”

Negotiation with the Kurdish people cannot be conducted without respecting them, underlined Demirtaþ and remarked that Kurds will give a struggle against the AKP mindset instead of negotiating with it. “We aren’t kneeling on and begging for peace. Our party doesn’t recognize the fascistic mindset of the AKP government which relies on the Kurds within itself while hitting the village of Roboski with bombs and killing and arresting us.”, underlined BDP co-chair.

Demirtaþ pointed out that the BDP side is currently talking over whether staying inside or outside the system and added that the Kurdish people will put forward an alternative way in the face of the cruelty imposed on them. “We don’t have to live with this fascistic system and we have the Kurdistan against the statements for ‘single nation’. We will fight until earning our freedom because of the fact that the Prime Minister doesn’t side with negotiation and claims he doesn’t have any problem with the Kurdish people” , added Demirtaþ.
