PJAK statement on prisoner sentenced to death

Releasing a statement on political prisoner Hebibullah Gulperipur who has been sentenced to death and is under threat of execution at any time, the Kurdish Party of Free Life for Kurdistan (PJAK) warned that; “The execution of political prisoners is our red line and a reason for war.”

PJAK said the followings; “The Iranian Islamic Republic applied a severe pressure on Iranian peoples and used death sentence as a threat against the fair demands of peoples last year.  However, it should be known that we will have to give an answer and revoke our decision on suspending our military actions if this policy once again enters into activity and political prisoners, Hebibullah Gulperipur in particular, are sentenced to death.”

Kurdish political prisoner Gulperipur was secretly transferred from Urmiye to Simnan prison in mid-February. It is reported that the Iranian intelligence service Itlaat stated several days ago that Gulperipur will be executed in the following days.

Hebibullah Gulperipur, registered in Sine city of East Kurdistan, was arrested and put in Mahabad prison in October of 2009. Mahabad Revolution Court sentenced the Kurdish political prisoner to death in April of 2010 for allegedly being a PJAK member and ‘enemy of God’. After going on a long hunger strike on 12 May, Gulperipur was threatened with execution in the event of not ending the strike. Gulperipur answered the court’s threat, saying that; “As I already know I’ll be executed sometime soon, I myself will make an end of my life to put you to shame after my death.” Following the approval of the death sentence of Gulperipur in January of 2011 by Iranian High Court, the Kurdish prisoner was transferred to Urmiye prison.

Eighteen Kurdish political prisoners in Iranian prisons are still under the threat of execution; Þêrko Mearifî, Hebîbûlla Letîfî, Samî Husênî, Cemal Mihemedî, Rustem Erkiya, Mistefa Selîmî, Enwer Rostemî, Îrec Mihemedî, Mihemed Emîn Agûþî, Ehmed Pûladxanî, Hesen Tale'î, Ezîz Mihemedizade, Hebibulla Gulperîpûr, Ebdûlah Sirurî, Reþîd Axkendî, Loqman Muradi, Zanyar Muradi and Bextiyar Mimari.
