PKK prisoners on indefinite hunger strike

PKK prisoners in Diyarbakir E and D-type prisons announced that they will continue the “indefinite hunger strike”, which they started about 4 urgent and 10 basic demands offered for the solution of the Kurdish problem, as “alternate”.

PKK prisoners in Diyarbakir E and D-type prisons made a written statement concerning the harsh intervention on the recent protest actions staged to protest Turkey’s High Election Board’s veto decision for the independent candidates of the “Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block”. The statement is as follows; “We vehemently condemn YSK’s veto decision which is the last link of the political elimination process against our people and the brutal violence policies implemented on our people. The heedless attitude of the AKP police on our people has exceeded the fascism of 12 September military coup. The brutal violence applied on our people, ‘without distinction of children and women’ as the prime minister says, is the AKP's real face. Hundreds of our people got wounded during the brutal police attacks, while hundreds were arrested by the courts under the governance of the AKP. AKP provincial and district buildings have been made the police station of these tortures and detentions”.

Pointing out that AKP’s applications proceed in all areas, prisoners called attention that they are not allowed to defend themselves in mother-tongue during trials and legal defenses are not taken into consideration. It was noted that ninety of hundred tried defendants have been imposed heavy penalties in the last one month.

The statement ended with a call on all segments of the society to be responsive to AKP’s denial, destructive approaches and persecution policies.
