In a written statement, made on behalf of all PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) prisoners in Turkey's jails, it was announced that there will be a 2-days 'warning' hunger strike in all prisons beginning on 30 June 2010. The Kurdish prisoners demand the government to answer to Kurdish leader Öcalan proposal for a the democratic solution of the Kurdish question. They also demand an end to the military and political operations; freedom for ill prisoners, amendment of TMK (Anti-Terrorism Law ) and an end to the pressure on the Kurdish language and the Kurdish media.

Reading the written statement in the name of all PKK and PJAK (Free Life Party of Kurdistan) prisoners in Turkey's jails, Deniz Kaya said that the 2 days hunger strike is organized to protest against the operations and the government pressure on Kurdish people and to demand a democratic solution to the Kurdish question.

The statement points out that “the inhuman,immoral pressure on leader Apo, who has been held under a merciless isolation for 11 years, has been increased to the utmost; on one hand, the military operations on every inch of our lands have been maintained, on the other hand fascist paramilitary gangs have been doing lynch practices on harmless Kurdish people; hundreds-thousands of civil politicians have been arrested; every day tens of patriotic Kurdish people have been questioned under torture; hundreds of Kurdish children have been arrested and put in prisons and the suppression policies and pressures on Kurdish institutions and establishments have been increasing to the utmost.”
