Uğur Acar, who is 65 percent disabled, is trying to make a living by selling samovar tea on Maraş Street after the fast-breaking in Van last week. Acar, who was almost lynched and injured in many parts by the police while selling tea, remained in the intensive care unit for 3 days.
After receiving the report of assault from the hospital, Acar went to the police station and gave a statement within the scope of the investigation opened against him. Ugur Acar was accused of ‘resisting the officer in charge'.
Acar said that he was selling tea in front of the Artoş business center when some people in plain clothes wanted to come and take the samovar from him. "I grabbed the samovar with embers so that they wouldn't get it, and pulled it toward myself. Meanwhile, a crowd formed and I remember 2 or 3 people. Meanwhile, hot water splashed on one of the police officers. While the police officers were beating me, one of them I did not know kicked the carotid artery of my neck from the right side.”
Acar continued: “I lost consciousness and fell to the ground. When I wanted to stand up again, there were police officers kicking and hitting me with batons. Even though I told them not to hit me because I was disabled, it didn't help. While they were beating me, they also cursed me. Then I was put in the police car and taken to the police station. I was bleeding from my mouth due to the beating. I was transferred to the hospital because of my health problems. I stayed in the intensive care unit for 3 days. The right part of my rib was damaged. My liver and nose were damaged by the beating. The reports I received from the hospital already tell it all.”
