Prisoner exposes torture in Samsun S Type jail

Political prisoner Vefa Yılmaz, who is held in an isolation cell for three people in Samsun S Type Prison, said in his weekly phone call with his family that he was tortured by the guards who raided the cell.

Torture against prisoners in Samsun prison has gained a new dimension in recent days. Political prisoner Vefa Yılmaz, who is held in an isolation cell for three people in Kavak S Type, said in his weekly phone call with his mother that he was subjected to violence by the guards who raided the cell.

A month ago, Yılmaz was quickly deported from Rize Kalkandere, one of the jails where alternating hunger strikes continued as part of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish question" campaign to break the Imrali isolation, to Samsun Kavak S Type.

Yılmaz, who was subjected to a strip search on his arrival to the new prison, was tortured because he did not accept this inhumane practice.

In his phone conversation with his mother, Yılmaz said that he was again subjected to torture by the guards who raided the cell.

On 4 March, prisoner Fırat Dari, in the same prison, said in a telephone conversation with his family that he was subjected to violence by the guards.

Similarly, on 5 March, prisoner Vedat Hesas, reported in a telephone conversation with his family that they had been tortured.
