Prisoners exposed violation of human rights
The prisoners in Ýzmir 2nd F Type Prison called on people to act against the violations in the prisons.
Drawing attention to oppression, threats and harassment they are subjected to, the prisoners said that never got any reply from the prison administration nor the Ministry of Justice to their requests. They have only been repeatedly punished for filing criminal complaints. The prisoners said punishment by prison administration might be longer than two years if they insist on fighting for their rights.
Cancer patient Abdulsamet held in Sincan 2nd F Type Prison in Ankara is getting worse but there is no sign of an earlier release despite the law requires it. According to Forensic Medicine Institute he is not dying yet and therefore could remain in jail.
The Human Rights Association Ýzmir Branch has received many letters from prisoners across Turkey in the past weeks. The prisoners are complaining about the prison administration they insist is not taking care of the prisoners in poor health condition, nor they are doing what the law requires for student prisoners. According to the official protocol signed on April 8, prison administration have to pay students’ tuition fees while they are in prison.
The ÝHD Branch called on student prisoners not to pay tuition fees and send letters to the Ministry, prosecutors and IHD branches to expose the situation.
