The Federation of Associations of Solidarity and Legal Aid for Families of Prisoners (TUHAD-FED) have said they will begin an indefinite hunger strike without turns in solidarity with the hunger strikers in prisons.
Over 400 prisoners are currently on an indefinite hunger strike to protest against the isolation of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan as well as the military and political operations. TUHAD-FED president Zübeyde Teker said the government would be responsible of any death that will ocurr because of the hunger strike.
“Prisoners are putting their life at risk but the government still keeps silent although it is the government’s policies towards the Kurdish issue which caused the hunger strike,” noted Teker inviting the public and the government to take into consideration the hunger strikers’ demands.
