Prisoners in Giresun jail call for urgent inspection after denouncing attack by guards

Prisoners in Giresun E Type Closed Prison have called for an “urgent” visit to the prison, after denouncing to be attacked by guards.

Prisoners held in Giresun E Type Closed jail have shared the rights violations they are subjected to in their weekly phone calls with their families.

The inmates said that the prison administration wanted to put them in solitary cells, separate from their friends, and that when they refused, they were physically attacked by guards.

The prisoners said they fear for their friends’ lives, and requested that lawyers and members of parliament come to the prison “urgently” and conduct an inspection.
