Pamukkale University Psychological Counseling and Guidance Department final year student Erkin Selanik, who had gone to Kobanê to provide service for women and children aggrieved by the ongoing conflict, was wounded with a shrapnel piece on the head.

Brought to Urfa Balıklıgöl Hospital 20 days ago, Selanik was arrested and sent to Urfa E Type Prison on 18 March while his treatment was going on.

Selanik who is facing a risk of losing his right eye also has fractures in the head, around the right eye and cheekbone. The overdose oxygen given to him at hospital has also caused a critical harm to his vocal cords. He needs to receive treatment at a general hospital but is being deprived of the right to health in jail where he is being held instead.

The youth's elder brother lawyer Mehmet Baran Selanik stated that Erkin was referred to Antep Medical Faculty on 25 March but was not treated because there was no "casualties room" in the hospital, and was sent back to prison.

Lawyer Selanik said the followings regarding the situation of his brother; "We do not know if his health is deteriorating or progressing. The only treatment he receives now is medical dressing by the prison doctor every two days. In addition, we as his lawyer and family are not informed about his situation. It was only when we talked to him during a visit that he had been referred to hospital but brought back to prison without receiving treatment."

Selanik stressed that his brother was denied treatment and referral to hospital totally arbitrarily.
