Thousands of people have supported in Bilbao (Bizkaia) the demonstration that took place in Bilbao (Bizkaia) on Saturday afternoon that, under the slogan Etxera bidea gertu (Almost home), is organized annually in defense of the rights of Basque political prisoners.
The march started in La Casilla, and arrived at Bilbao City Hall.
The protest also included the intervention of the bertsolaris (Basque dengbej) Maialen Lujanbio and Amets Arzallus, who performed 'Txoria txori', by Mikel Laboa when the march reached the Zabalburu square.
At the end of the march, representatives of Sare Herritarra (Joseba Azkarraga) and Bake Bidea (Anais Funosas) read the statement from the City Hall steps. Both stressed that their main claim is sovereignty, that is, that these people decide "how and when" the prisoners "return to their homes and take their place back in society."
