It was reported that some convicts and detainees in Hatay T Type Closed Penitentiary Institution allegedly started a riot on Wednesday evening.

In the statements by the Turkish authorities regarding the issue, the incident was described as an attempt to escape. It was reported that three prisoners died and 12 prisoners were injured.

Videos circulating on social media showed the brutality the prisoners were subjected to and a soldier is heard saying “stop beating, there are cameras.”
