In a statement made on behalf of all PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) and PJAK (Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan) prisoners in Turkey, Deniz Kaya explained the violations of right Kurdish prisoners are subject to in prisons. Kaya pointed to the news of torture received every day from various prisons and demanded an independent investigation in all prisons and in particular in Osmaniye prison.
Eight thousand PKK and PJAK prisoners have been on an alternate indefinite hunger strike since 1 December in protest against the current prison conditions, the isolation AKP government exposes on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and increasing KCK arrests.
The statement by Kaya said the followings; “The special war regime has widely enhanced the policies of pressure and suppression against our comrades since we made the decision to start this act. It has actualized new policies of censorship, exile and suppression in prisons. Not a day goes by without torture, forced transfers and attacks.”
Referring to the PM Erdoðan’s and AKP government’s statements that Kurdish prisoners can freely speak in their mother-tongue in prisons, Kaya commented this expression as a “great lie”.
