Political prisoners at Karataþ Women’s Prison have begun an alternate indefinite hunger strike on 2 December in protest against the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and increasing KCK detention and arrests in the recent period.
Demanding that the government urgently abandoned this policy, prisoners, in a message through their families, called on human rights organizations and all democratic segments to not to remain silent against increasing operations and the isolation AKP government exposes on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Hunger-strike acts of PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) and PJAK (Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan) prisoners continue in a week in many other prisons as well. The most recent indefinite hunger-strike act has been started yesterday by PKK member prisoners at Batman M-Type Prison.
