Women activists have sent postcards to PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) leader Abdullah Öcalan. Letters have been sent from Diyarbakýr, Ergani, Þýrnak, Dersim, Ceylanpýnar and Van as part of a campign launched for 8 March, International Women’s Day.
BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) members also sent postcards to Öcalan in Aðrý on Friday while Democratic Free Women’s Movement (DÖKH) activists threw carnations in the sea in Ýzmir.
Preparations for 8 March are underway. Women were called to participate to the demonstrations in Ankara, Bingöl, Derik, Mersin, Batman, Adana, Ýstanbul, Hakkari and Doðubayazýt.
Postcards were also sent to women prisoners in Ankara, Mersin, Þýrnak, Bingöl, Ýstanbul, Van, Diyarbakýr and Mardin’s Derik Town.
Demonstrations will be held in Adana and Dersim today, while on Sunday there will be rallies in Diyarbakýr and Viranþehir. The rally in Doðubayazýt will be on 7 March. A panel on the legal, psychological and sociological treaty of the woman will take place on Saturday in Hakkari.
