Iranian soldiers kill kolbar in the province of Urmia

Iranian soldiers attacked a group of kolbar (transborder workers) in the border region of the province of Urmia, in East Kurdistan. One kolber lost his life.

Kolbernews reported that on Wednesday, 3 February, Iranian military forces attacked a group of kolbars in the border area near the city of Serdesh, in the province of Urmia, East Kurdistan.

As a result of the attack, a kolbar named Xalid Ehmedpor, registered in the population of the village of Werdê, died.

Iranian soldiers execute dozens of people on the borderline every year, with complete impunity.

The kolbars make a living by bringing loads across the dangerous borders in Kurdistan. These are mainly cigarettes, cell phones, blankets, household goods, tea, and rarely alcohol. The routes across the sealed-off borders of the nation-states that claim Kurdistan are at least as life-threatening for the kolbars as working in high mountain conditions. The Iranian military, the "Revolutionary Guard" (Pasdaran), and the Turkish army repeatedly set ambushes and kill kolbars.
