Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Cizre District Organization commemorated those who were murdered in the “basements of horror”, during the genocidal attacks in the Cizre district of Şırnak.
The families of the murdered people, HDP Şırnak MPs Hasan Özgüneş, Hüseyin Kaçmaz and TJA members and many others wanted to visit Cizre Asri Cemetery but were blocked by the police. Police attacked the people who did not take a step back.
Meanwhile, the families reacted to the police saying "You killed our children, you do not allow even a remembrance, you are afraid of our bones". The families left the carnations they brought with them at the entrance of the cemetery.
Speaking at the entrance of the cemetery, HDP deputy Hasan Özgüneş said: "All of the people who lost their lives are our people. Hundreds of our friends, such as Mehmet Tunç and Aysel Yüksel, who carried out legal politics with us on legal grounds, lost their lives. As a party, we want to enjoy our democratic right. We want to share the pain of our families. Who are the perpetrators of this crime? Why there has been no investigation so far? We still ask, who are these perpetrators?”
Emphasizing that the country will definitely get rid of “this hell and this fascist oppression”, Özgüneş added: “We are ready to pay whatever the price to make sure fascism is defeated. We promise that we will take care of the case of our friends who were killed unjustly and unlawfully by dark forces. But we will do this on a democratic and legal basis. There is no power that can remove us. The government can close the HDP if it likes, they can put us into prisons or they can kill us. In any case, we risk death for the sake of democracy and freedom. Nobody should have a doubt. We call out to the heads of the country; fascism has a short life span."
