HDP Istanbul branch and HDK Istanbul Assembly held a demo outside Galatasaray Square in Beyoğlu district today in protest at the ongoing curfew and state of siege in the Kurdish region.
The demo under the main slogan “Resistance will triumph over the coup of the Palace” was joined by hundreds of people including HDP provincial and district executives who voiced solidarity with the popular resistance in Sur, Dargeçit, Nusaybin, Cizre and Silopi.
Speaking here, HDP Istanbul branch co-chair Cesim Soylu pointed out that the siege of Turkish forces in Kurdish towns went beyond an international war and never served establishment of peace in Turkey.
Following the speeches, police attacked the mass who chanted “Kurdistan will be graveyard of fascism”. At least 13 people including reporter for Özgür Gelecek (Free Future) magazine have been taken into custody as a result of the intervention.
