22 more Turkish soldiers killed in guerrilla actions

The Turkish army used chemical weapons and explosives against guerrilla positions 34 times on Friday and carried out 33 air strikes as guerrillas continue to resist the Turkish invasion operation in Medya Defense Zones.

 

The Press Centre of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) reported a series of actions by guerrillas against the Turkish invasion in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the death of Zeynep Kınacı (Zilan)

 

According to the daily statement of HPG Press Centre, 22 members of the Turkish invading forces were killed in guerrilla actions on Friday. HPG also reported massive attacks and war crimes by the Turkish army which employed chemical weapons and explosives against the guerrilla tunnels 34 times and carried out 22 attacks by fighter jets and 21 attacks by helicopters. In addition, the guerrilla areas were bombed by howitzers from the Turkish outposts in the border region.

HPG gave the following information on the latest situation in the guerrilla areas:

In the Werxelê area in the Avaşîn region, a soldier was shot dead by an HPG sniper. Shortly afterwards, an advance by the invading forces was repelled with heavy weapons.

In the Zap region, a transport helicopter was struck at Kurojahro and forced to retreat. At Girê Karker, guerrillas carried out an act of sabotage in which at least two soldiers were killed.

In the Girê Hekarî resistance area, guerrillas used heavy weapons against soldiers who were massed at Şehîd Zemanî tunnel. Two hours later, guerrillas from YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) targeted the Turkish forces with heavy weapons. At the same time, when a Turkish unit started moving at Girê Şehîd Akîf, one soldier was shot by an HPG sniper and the other soldiers were also struck with firearms. The unit then retreated with the dead and wounded.

At Girê Cûdî, an advance towards the Şehîd-Çekdar tunnel was stopped by sabotage tactics and subsequent shelling by guerrillas, killing at least three soldiers. In the same area, five soldiers were shot dead by YJA Star snipers. A soldier was also shot dead at Girê FM.

On Friday evening at 6 pm, the guerrillas struck the Turkish military base Kanî Masî with heavy weapons. Eight soldiers were killed and a military tent was destroyed.
