VAN
Police forces conducted simultaneous raids in Süphan, Karşıyaka and Hacıbekir neighborhoods in Van province and detained 30 people who include Democratic Regions' Party (DBP) Party Assembly member Pervin Özgür. The detainees were taken to Van Security Directorate.
AMED
Mehmet Çelik, Nihat Salmış and Fırat Bal who had been detained in an operation against Kurdish businesspeople and contractors on Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's instruction on June 22, were referred to court today. Çelik, Salmış and Bal were remanded in custody for allegedly “financing the PKK”.
Construction Company Birtane İnşaat owner Celalettin Birtane had also been detained in the same operation and jailed on June 30.
In Ergani district of Amed, police raided the house of Deputy Co-mayor Gülistan Polat and detained her following a search in her house. Polat has been taken to Amed.
Mehmet Çakmakçı, reporter for Medyascope TV that broadcasts online, was also taken into custody as result of a house raid in Amed.
