34 parties and movements in North-East Syria express readiness to defend the region with the SDF

34 political parties and movements in North and East Syria addressed the people regarding the attacks by the occupying Turkish state and allied gangs, saying: “Join the HPC, support our forces, ensure internal security and stand against the special war.”

Representatives of 34 political parties and movements in North and East Syria held a meeting and made a press statement in Hesekê today regarding the increasingly ongoing attacks by the Turkish state and allied proxy jihadist forces.

The press statement read by Heyfa Mehmûd of the Syrian Modern and Democratic Party, drew attention to the attempts of the Turkish-backed gangs to change the demographic structure in the region and said that targeted attacks against IDPs and disrupting of local structures is an open war crime.

The parties stressed that the already existing problems deepened due to the failure of the Damascus government to respond positively to the calls of the Autonomous Administration and democratic forces for a peaceful solution. The statement pointed out that such incidents would not have occurred if an environment of dialogue had been established.

The parties and political movements strongly condemned the attacks on the region and expressed their readiness to defend the region together with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), also expressing their support for the call for general mobilisation.

“We call on our people to be sensitive and be prepared for possible developments. Join the Social Defence Forces (HPC), support our forces with the energy of the youth and military experience, ensure internal security and stand against the special war,” the statement said.

It was stressed that the Autonomous Administration and the Crisis Desk will fulfil their responsibilities for the reception and resettlement of IDPs, and the international community was urged to take action to secure the rights of displaced civilians.

Addressing the US-led anti-ISIS coalition and the Russian Federation, the parties emphasised that Turkey and terrorist groups should not be allowed to divide Syria. “We are committed to the unity of Syria and its political solution,” the statement concluded.
