The General Assembly of the Sheikh Maqsoud (Şêxmeqsûd) and Ashrafiyah (Eşrefiyê) neighborhoods in Aleppo has signed a 14-point agreement with the Damascus government.
Nûrî Şêxo, Co-Chair of the General Assembly of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah, spoke to ANHA regarding the agreement.
Şêxo stated that the agreement was the result of negotiations that had taken place over the past two months.
Şêxo emphasized that the agreement is significant at this stage and will pave the way for peace and stability for the local population. He said, “In a short time, we will establish expert committees to monitor the implementation of the agreement’s provisions and continue negotiations to reach permanent solutions.”
He added that the rights of residents in the area would be guaranteed in every respect and that they would be represented in the Aleppo City Council.
Şêxo noted that this agreement would also help prevent any attempts to sow division and fragmentation within Syrian society.
