A protestor dies of his wounds in Southern Kurdistan

A Kurdish protester who was wounded by KDP’s peshmerga died at the hospital on Friday.

Eris Omer was among the protestors who demand fair elections and a transparent, corruption-free government in Koye, a district of Hewler province. He was seriously wounded by KDP’s peshmerga on December 20.

Omer died of his wounds on Friday at a hospital in Arbil. According to witnesses, Omer was shot by asayish (KDP’s police) forces.

After the death of Omer, the number of the people killed by Southern Kurdistan administration rose to six. Five other protesters were killed in Rania.

Last week thousands of people staged protests against corruption in Southern Kurdistan and met by police violence.
