Abdi: International community bears responsibility to protect civilians

“Opening the airspace to the Turkish state to target civilians according to their whims, will lead to unprecedented massacres, warned the Commander-in-Chief of the SDF.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, condemned the deadly aerial attack by the Turkish state that killed Merwan Bedel, co-president of Shengal Autonomous Administration Council, in the town of Khanasor at around 2 pm local time on Tuesday.

In a Twitter post, Abdi said the following:

“The attack that targeted the head of the Shengal administration, Marwan Badal, and his children, repeats the scene of the Qamishlo massacre.

Opening the airspace to the Turkish state to target civilians according to their whims, will lead to unprecedented massacres. The international community bears the responsibility to stop the violations and protect civilians.

We offer our condolences to the family of the martyr Marwan and to the Yazidi people.”
