The delegations from Rojava and North Kurdistan continue their visits in Moscow where they attended 4th International Kurdish Conference earlier this week.

The delegations composed of representatives of DTK, PYD, HDP, Kobanê Canton and Amed Municipality held a massively attended public meeting at Kurdish Culture Centre in Moscow yesterday evening. Members of the delegations briefed the public about the recent developments in Rojava and North Kurdistan.

IRMAK: KURDS ARE MAJOR POWER IN THE NEGOTIATIONS

Speaking at the public meeting, co-chair of Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Selma Irmak stressed that no power is anymore able to ignore or deny the Kurds, and added that the Kurds are now the major power at the table of negotiations. Irmak said permanent freedom for the Kurdish people is near and called on the Kurdish people to join the struggle everywhere they live.

Irmak also drew attention to the importance of the November 1 elections in North Kurdistan and Turkey and called on the Kurdish people living abroad to cast their votes in order to give the necessary response to the AKP government which -she said- tries hard to destroy the political gains of the Kurdish people.

ABDULLAH: WE CAN TALK TO EVERYONE BUT THOSE WHO DISAPPROVE OUR PRINCIPLES

Speaking after, PYD co-chair Asya Abdullah stated that no project other than the one developed by Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan can achieve success in the Middle East, stressing that no project based on unjust profit mechanisms of capitalism can liberate the ancient people of the region.

“Moreover, the Kurdish people govern themselves based on their own project for the first time in the history. Today’s struggle and war in Rojava are waged for that purpose. We now step up our struggle to find a response in the international diplomacy as well. We can speak with everyone but we are not obliged to work with those who do not recognise our principles and thoughts”, said Abdullah.

PYD co-chair stressed that they are not on any side, but constitute a third party, and added that they are ready to meet anyone who will recognize this reality and take their views into consideration.

“We are no longer the Kurds of Turks, Arabs or Persians. We are rather the Kurds, loyal to their own values and believe in freedom and struggle for the liberation of Kurdistan. The stance of Kurds are in the foreground of developments in Syria may not suit the book of some forces, but the current position of the Kurds put them into the strongest position within the Syrian territory”, she underlined.

Abdullah emphasised that Rojava will succeed in politics too by stepping up the struggle in the same way it has succeeded in war through resistance, and that it is now the time international forces recognised the Rojava cantons. Stressing that the stage reached in Rojava today goes much beyond the one of several years before, PYD co-chair said no one can underestimate the power of Kurds anymore.

Abdullah lastly called on the Kurdish people to step up the struggle for the freedom of the Kurdish people as a matter of loyalty to the memories of the martyrs.

MÜSLİM: WE WORK HARD FOR REBUILDING

Enver Müslim, President of the Executive Assembly of Kobanê Canton, recalled the major offensive launched by ISIS gangs on Kobanê with the weapons and ammunition they seized after occupying Mosul. Remarking that everyone basing on a comparison in military and technical terms had then taken it for granted that Kobanê was going to fall, Müslim said those predictions, however, didn't consider the will and power of the Kurds to resist.

Müslim said the battle at the time was so tough that even one single combatant would fight alone at a front for hours, and some others didn't leave their positions until their last bullet and sacrificed their lives, believing that it would be a betrayal to leave the front.

Müslim said Kurds have written a history in Kobanê, which has become the castle of resistance for the Kurds, where works for reconstruction are still going on at the moment. He stated that the infrastructural and organisational works have reached a certain level now, as has the education system which provides education in Kurdish till the 12th class.

Pointing out that they try their best and work hard for rebuilding the town with limited possibilities, Müslim said the people of Kobanê will not forget the aid sent to them from abroad.
