Mülkiye Türk protested his husband Ahmet Türk's denial of access to hospital because he refused treatment while handcuffed, and she called on President Erdoğan: “You are responsible for any undesired results. You can’t achieve anything through deaths.” Türk called on the Kurdish people to support the prisoners and to come together.

Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Ahmet Türk was arrested and taken to Silivri Prison some 3 weeks ago. He refused to go to the routine control for his heart condition in handcuffs, thus he wasn’t taken to the hospital.

Mülkiye Türk considers this practice against Ahmet Türk to be an attack on his safety. She said that their son saw during his last visit that her husband, who has a critical heart condition, was in a bad state and that he needs to be treated urgently.

“I SUPPORT MR. TÜRK’S STANCE”

Mülkiye Türk said that her husband lived and fought with dignity, that the imposition of handcuffs was undignified and she supported his refusal to accept treatment while handcuffed. Türk continued: “Mr. Türk is not a thief, not a murderer. Mr. Türk is a Kurdish politician who resists with dignity. It’s not like he’s going to escape. He didn’t, even when he could. Thus, this practice targets his dignity, and Mr. Türk will not accept the handcuffs.”

“AKP AND ERDOĞAN RESPONSIBLE FOR UNDESIRED RESULTS”

Türk stated that her husband had been unlawfully imprisoned and pointed out that, as if being arrested in his age and health isn’t enough, his treatment was also prevented with the handcuff imposition. Türk said the public knows of her husband’s critical health problems and added: “Mr. Türk has a serious heart condition, and liver and stomach problems. He is not well right now. My son Ejder visited him recently and told us that his father was in a bad state, even though he tried not to show. AKP and Erdoğan will be responsible for any undesired results to be faced by Ahmet Türk.”

“TO ERDOĞAN: YOU CAN’T END THE KURDISH PEOPLE BY KILLING”

Mülkiye Türk called on the Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan and said, “You have to stop trying to solve issues with violence” and continued: “Since the days of Sheikh Said, the Kurdish people have been massacred. The same policy is in motion now. You can’t end the Kurdish people by killing and massacring them, the President knows this very well, and he should solve this issue through democratic means.”

Mülkiye Türk also called on the Kurdish people to support Ahmet Türk and other prisoners and to come together in the face of attacks.
