Workers involved in renovation work on a main street in Shengal town center encountered human bones in an area which later turned out to be a mass grave.

The mass grave is thought to be containing the bones of those massacred by ISIS and it is yet not clear how many bodies are buried in the grave as the necessary examinations have not been completed.

As many as 69 mass graves were discovered in and around Shengal before. A comprehensive investigation into the mentioned mass graves is yet to be carried out.
