People’s Defense Forces Press and Communications Center (HPG-BIM) released a statement about the guerrilla action and Turkish military operation in Amed countryside.
According to the statement, guerrillas targeted an armored vehicle of the Turkish army at a checkpoint in Amed’s Hazro district at 13:30 on March 29. As a result of effective strikes, the vehicle caught fire and was completely destroyed following the detonation of ammunition in it. 8 Turkish soldiers were killed in this action.
Following the action, Turkish troops airdropped soldiers and started an operation with the support of unmanned aerial vehicles and Cobra type assault helicopters.
“At 16:00 in the afternoon, Turkish army intensely shelled the area of Meraniye village. As a result of these bombardments, two guerrillas by the names of Tekoşer and Akif lost their lives, while another guerrilla by the name of Rêber got wounded. HPG guerrilla Rêber then detonated the bombs he was carrying in order not to be captured by the enemy forces, and fell a martyr. During the operation that lasted three days, Turkish army closed the Hazro-Kulp road to traffic, and removed the wreckage of the vehicle. The operation was retreated on April 1.”
HPG-BİM reported airstrikes on guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan territory on April 1. Accordingly, Turkish jets bombed Dola Bedrana area and Martyr Harun Cemetery of Martyrs in Qandil region at between 18:30 and 21:00.
At between 19:30 and 20:00, Turkish warplanes bombed Arê strait, Lolan bridge, Martyr Beritan bridge and Xakurkê bridge in Xakurke region.
The bombardments caused damage to the vineyards and orchards of the local people.
