Ayten Dersim, member of the coordination of the Party of the Free Woman in Kurdistan (Partiya Azadiya Jinê ya Kurdistanê - PAJK) called for the expansion of the resistance on the TV station Medya Haber and issued a warning to Kurdish collaborators.
At the beginning of the interview with journalist Arjin Baysal, Ayten Dersim, commemorated all the martyrs of the revolution in the person of PKK’s leading members Diyar Xerîb (Helmet), Salîh Cîzre, Dr. Hüseyin and Leyla Agirî who were martyred in June.
She also paid tribute to Zîlan (Zeynep Kınacı), who died in the action she carried out on 30 June 1996, when she blew herself up at a Turkish military parade in Dersim.
Dersim said about that action: "When comrade Zîlan (Zeynep Kınacı) carried out her action, guerrilla warfare was stagnating. She carried out her action both to nullify the conspiracy against the leader of the movement, Abdullah Öcalan and to introduce a novel warfare. In this sense, she was a pioneer. Martyr Zeynep Kınacı destroyed an army alone despite having joined the guerrillas for a year. The June 30 Action showed the enemy that it is not possible to eliminate a woke Kurdish woman, a society that started to enjoy freedom and a movement and its militants inspired by this freedom."
Dersim compared the current resistance in the Medya Defense Areas with that of Zîlan and described the Turkish attacks on Shengal, Maxmur, Rojava and South Kurdistan as an attempt by Turkey to compensate for its poor military situation in the Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna regions.
"These are our mountains"
Looking back on the PKK's 50-year history, Ayten Dersim stated: "From the first day we set out, we planted the seeds of the belief that the Kurdish people can live freely. Today, that belief has blossomed and is beginning to bear fruit. The reality of Zîlan has now become concrete, reflected in practice and also bearing fruit in the Medya Defense Areas. It is our task to join the guerrilla resistance in the Medya Defense Areas. These mountains are ours. We are the children of these mountains. It is not possible for a mercenary force, for Turkish soldiers who have no fighting strength left, to be able to hold their ground in these mountains.”
Dersim recalled the images of clashes in the Medya Defense Areas, which were published on Gerîla TV and which show the actions by the Turkish invading troops. Referring to the martyrs, Dersim said: "The price of freedom is high, but the martyrs lived with dignity."
"We must spread the war"
Dersim added: “The entire Kurdish people must mobilize for the revolutionary offensive and be inspired by the guerrilla resistance. We must guarantee freedom and be able to extend resistance to all cities. That means being connected to Zîlan, becoming Zîlan and walking her way.”
Enemy’s plan frustrated
Dersim commemorated the June Martyrs, Filiz Yerlikaya (Gulan) and Sema Yüce (Serhildan). “Comrade Gulan trained herself inspired by Zîlan’s line. She always had a militant stance against the dominant, reactionary and insufficient stances. Therefore, when the liquidationist and treacherous line targeted comrade Gulan, it was actually targeting the Zîlan line.”
Despite all the pressures under the prison conditions, Sema Yüce resisted thanks to her high consciousness and will.
“Comrade Sema said that 'I want to be a bridge between March 8 and March 21', instructing us that we should educate ourselves based on the Women's Liberation Ideology introduced by Öcalan,” Dersim said.
Dersim also commemorated Leyla Agirî, with whom she had been fighting comrades for many years, to mark the third year of her martyrdom. “Comrade Leyla carried out activities in many fields. She was a commander in YJA Star, and took her place in the early phase of Jineology studies. She was very enthusiastic in all of them. Her stance on the women's struggle is very clear. "She was deeply engaged in her own internal struggles when she took part in the women's struggle.”
“The traitors will be held accountable”
Ayten Dersim called for resistance against “the line of betrayal”, especially in South Kurdistan, with reference to the collaboration of the KDP party. “Kurdish blood is on the hands of those who spied for the KDP and the Turkish state. They would have to account for this, because the betrayal has never been successful in the history of the PKK.”
