A top official from Hewler Airport told French News Agency AFP that the international flight ban imposed on Southern Kurdistan has been extended for three months.
Iraq’s central government had decided to ban all international flights to Southern Kurdistan after Kurdistan Regional Government refused to hand over international airports to Iraq’s aviation authority.
The decision affected thousands of people especially Kurds living in Europe. Since then Kurdish passengers travel to Baghdad or Najaf before flying to international destinations.
