Bombed by Turkey, Sinûn People's Council building is being rebuilt

The building of the Sinûn People's Council in the Shengal region of northern Iraq, which was bombed by a Turkish drone in June, is being rebuilt. The People's Council is not intimidated and continues its work.

The building of the Sinûn People's Council in the Shengal region is being rebuilt. The premises were largely destroyed in a Turkish drone attack on 15 June, and surrounding shops were also hit. Twelve-year-old Salah Nasir Naso was killed immediately, while Yazidi activist Ibrahim Derwêş Evdî succumbed to his severe injuries a few days later. Six other people, including journalist Salih Berces from the Yazidi station Çira TV, were injured.

The Sinûn Autonomous Administration has now started the reconstruction of the building. The construction site is visited by many people from the population. Sido Ali, a member of the Sinûn People's Council, said: "There were casualties and injuries in the attack, but we are not intimidated by this and we are continuing our work. We thank the people who are supporting us today. We want to emphasise that we will not retreat and our struggle will continue. We will strengthen our organised structures."

Şemê Remo, an activist of the Yazidi Women's Freedom Movement TAJÊ (Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzidî), said: "The enemy should know that we do not fear their tanks, missiles and planes. We will continue our work with determination and at any cost."
